Fried egg jellyfish

Scientific name : Cotylorhiza tuberculata

The manubrium is composed by eight arms, and it is divided into a large number of short tentacles ending with a white or purple swelling. The whole animal may shift in colour from yellow to greenish or beige, due to the presence of symbiotic algae inside the tissues of the jellyfish. It may reach a maximum diameter of thirty centimetres,
It can create large aggregations of organisms, even if it is possible to find solitary specimens. It swims very close to the surface, to promote the photosynthesis of the symbiotic algae. It is not poisoning.
