Flasher scorpion fish

Scientific name : Scorpaenopsis macrochir


Very cryptic scorpion fish. Variable colour, usually it matches the bottom. Humpback. The posterior part of the pectoral fin is orange with black edge. 13 cm.
Scorpaenopsis diabolus, is very similar, but it has smaller eyes, more pronounced hump, and a different pectoral fin colour pattern. S. gibbosa, very similar in the colour of the pectoral fin, lives only in the Indian Ocean.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon

Distribution: Western Pacific
