Fiddler crab
Scientific name : Uca sp.
Uca crabs live on the shore, out of the water. They have long stalked eyes, in the males one claw (the left) is enormously developed. Variable colour, especially in the claw. 4 cm. Living in mangrove forests, where it digs burrows in the muddy sediment, in low tide. Males spend a lot of time in courtship behaviour, waving the more developed claw to attract the female. Colour and waving patterns are different in different species.
Unique due to the males asymmetrical claws.
