Encrusting ascidian

Scientific name : Eusynstyela latericius


Encrusting colony, zooids long about 1 cm, horizontal and very closely packed, red-orange colour.
Eusynstyela misakiensis, very similar, has zooids with a silvery band between the 2 siphons.

Associated organisms
Covers many other sessile animals: corals, bivalve shells, ascidians, sponges (in the picture).


Habitat: Reef, Reef front

Distribution: Indo-Pacific
