Elephant's ear anemone

Scientific name : Amplexidiscus fenestrafer


The largest among Corallimorpharia, the flattened oral disc is over 30 cm diameter, covered with short tentacles apart from a smooth ring close to the edge. Light brown or green colour. When contracted has the appearence of a rounded bowl.

Associated organisms
With zooxanthellae; also with the shrimp Pliopontonia furtiva.


Habitat: Reef, Reef front
