Ectopleura crocea
Scientific name : Ectopleura crocea
Hydroid characterized by the peculiar aspect of its colonies: each polyp is placed on the top of a long smooth stem, not branched and quite stiff. The polyp is almost spherical, rounded by two crowns of stringy tentacles. The stems are connected by a common basis; polyps are generally pinkish in colour, while the rest of the colony is whitish or yellow.
It can reach a maximum height of ten centimetres.
It prefers cold waters, with good flow.
