Dwarf pipehorse
Scientific name : Acentronura breviperula
Small species (5 cm), extremely cryptic, with many skin appendages, brown-green colour. Tail is prehensile.
Sometimes identified uncorrectly as Acentronura tentaculata, a Red Sea endemic species.
The female (in our pictures) is thinner and more similar to a pipe fish. Male is more similar to a sea horse, and has a ventral breeding pouch.
Habitat:
Coastal bay, Lagoon, Seagrass beds
