Delicate sea anemone

Scientific name : Heteractis malu


Small anemone (20 cm diameter), with short, robust tentacles. Greenish or brownish colour, purple tentacles tips. Whitish column with longitudinal rows of adhaesive verrucae.
In the sandy environments confusion is possible with Heteractis aurora, Heteractis crispa, Macrodactyla doreensis. H. aurora has tentacles with swollen parts, H. crispa and M. doreensis have longer tentacles.

Associated organisms
With zooxanthellae and with only one anemone fish species: Amphiprion clarkii.


Habitat: Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Western Pacific
