Crinoid cling fish

Scientific name : Discotrema echinofila


Very small fish with cylindrical body, very mobile, the head almost seems to have a neck. Scaleless skin, colour yellow to brown-black with 3 longitudinal white lines (one on every side and one median). 3 cm.
Easy to distinguish by the shape and by the host.

Associated organisms
Always associated with crinoids, usually it hides under the host or on its oral disc, adhaering with the ventral sucker.


Habitat: Reef external slope

Distribution: Western Pacific
