Scientific name : Fistularia commersonii


Very elongate, long snout, cylindrical body, tail with a long filament in the middle. Normal colour is greenish-grey on the back, silvery on the sides, with blue lines and spots in adults. At night dark and light bands are visible. Maximum lenght 1.5 m. Often in schools hovering close to the bottom, it feeds on small fish.
It can be confused with the trumpet fish Aulostomus chinensis. The colour, the shape, and mainly the tail filament are distinctive characters.
