Colonial anemone

Scientific name : Zoanthus sp.


Small colonial anemone, polips are connected by living tissue. Polyps high 1.5 cm, white column, green tentacles with black tip, black mouth. It grows over the skeleton of dead gorgonians and black corals.
There are still many undescribed Zoantidea species. In our area we see 4 specie (Parazoanthus cf. gracilis, Parazoanthus cf. gracilis sp. 1, Parazoanthus cf. gracilis sp. 2, Zoanthus sp.), identified by the colour and by the chosen host.

Associated organisms
It settles and grow on the skeleton of dead gorgonians (Octocorallia, Alcyonacea) and black corals, with many other organisms (hydroids, ascidians, bryozoans).
