Brown comber

Scientific name : Serranus hepatus


Smaller than other groupers (maximum length: 25,0 cm), it has a less stout body, ivory, with three vertical brown bars on the anterior half of the body and a thicker one right before the caudal peduncle. It also shows a fake eye on the caudal part of the dorsal fin.
It can be found on seagrass beds and muddy, sandy and rocky bottoms. Carnivorous, it adapts quite well in an aquarium.


Habitat: Mud, Sand, Seagrass beds

Distribution: East Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea
