Boers bat fish

Scientific name : Platax boersi


Rounded compressed body, symmetrical dorsal and anal fins. Snout profile with slightly prominent lips. Silver colour with vertical bands, more or less dark. Fins edges fading into a golden-yellow colour. 40 cm. Juveniles with very long dorsal and anal fins. This is a recently described species, previously it was identified as Platax orbicularis, pretty similar. It is distinguished by more yellow fins and tail and by the tendency to live in larger schools. Platax teira is distinguished by the dark anal blotch, Platax pinnatus has concave snout profile. Juveniles P. teira have elongated but rounded dorsal and anal fins.
