Bluespotted stingray

Scientific name : Dasyatis kuhlii


Reddish-brown body with bright blue centered spots (with a greenish outer ring) and black spots on the dorsal side. The ventral side is white.
Their snout is angular, as the disc is, with a total length of 70 cm. The tail is as long as the body, with black and white rings and a caudal finfold.
There is a spine on the tail.
These stingrays are found in the Indopacific and West Pacific, Red Sea, Tanzania, South Africa, India, Japan and Australia.
They mainly feed on crustaceans, are solitary and live on sandy bottoms near reefs. They are ovoviviparous.

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, Red sea
