Blue spotted puffer fish

Scientific name : Arothron caeruleopunctatus

Large pufferfish, the back is light brown, the sides have a dark grey shading. Small blue spots are scattered on all the body, around the eye there are obvious black concentric rings. 70 cm. Encountered along the external reef and deep reef, often in small caves. Very shy. Confusion possible with Arothron stellatus and Arothron mappa. The concentric lines surrounding the eye are a good diagnostic. The former is finely spotted but with no particular pattern around the eye, the second has radiating lines.
For the concentric lines, it could be confused with Arothron hispidus, that has obvious white spots (never blue) becoming lines on the belly.
