Blackstripe cardinalfish

Scientific name : Apogon nigrofasciatus


Bright yellow fish, with brown, almost black stripes on its sides. Maximum length: 10.0 cm.
It can be found as single individuals or couples along crevices or ledges, but also on flats and shallow lagoons. It feeds at night on small benthic invertebrates.
Similar to Apogon angustatus, from which differs for a small spot near the caudal fin.


Habitat: Back reef, Reef flat, Reef front

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, Red sea
