Black-blotched porcupinefish

Scientific name : Diodon liturosus


A large porcupine fish, it may reach a maximum length of sixty centimetres. The spines are quite short, the colouration is pale, beige, with few large yellow-edged dark brown spots scattered along the body.

It feeds on gastropods and crustaceans. It is a nocturnal species; during day time it can be found in dark shelters along the reef slope, from the surface up to forty meters of depth.


Habitat: Reef external slope

Distribution: Circumtropical
