Bearded cusk eel

Scientific name : Brotula multibarbata


Elongate, large fish, with el-like tail (dorsal, caudal and anal fins joined together). The snout has sensitive barbels, also the ventral fins are transformed into filaments. Brown colour, 60 cm.
This species belongs to the family Ophidiidae, put temporarily here for affinity with the cat fishes.
Encountered in lagoon, bay or back reef. A nocturnal predator of fish and crustaceans


Habitat: Back reef, Coastal bay, Lagoon

Distribution: Pacific Ocean
