Beadlet anemone

Scientific name : Actinia equina


Sea anemone with a globe-shaped body; its mouth is rounded by a huge number of short tentacles that are usually so contracted to result invisible. That gives a spherical shape to the animal that, along with the typical red colour, explain a large part of its common name, which usually sound like “sea tomato”.
It lives on the rocks in very shallow waters, and it is able to bear long period of emersion.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Rock

Distribution: East Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea
