Robust ghost pipefish
Scientific name : Solenostomus cyanopterus
Very long snout, variable colour (green to brown), it mimics a seagrass leaf in the finest details (encrusting organisms). Elongate tail, short caudal peduncle especially in the larger females. Maximum lenght 15 cm. The main difference with Solenostomus sp. is the longer tail with a shorter tail peduncle. Compared with Solenostomus paegnius, S. cyanopterus has a slightly longer tail peduncle.
Associated organisms Often in association with seagrasses, that mimic very well.

Coastal bay, Lagoon
