Starry octopus

Scientific name : Octopus luteus


Large octopus belonging to the Octopus macropus species complex. reddish brown colour, with scattered white spots more or less appearent. Not well known. Body 13 cm, tentacles 80 cm. Distinguished from the large Indo-Pacific day octopus (Octopus cyanea) by the colour pattern and the nocturnal habits.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Western Pacific
