Scientific name : Psammechinus microtuberculatus


Small echinoid, with an almost spherical shape. The body is brown, covered with short greenish or whitish spines. The maximum diameter never exceeds the five centimetres.
This species, very rare in the whole Mediterranean sea, may be found on hard bottoms, even if it seems to prefer habitat close to sandy areas. It is herbivorous.


Habitat: Mud, Rock
