Pygmy seahorse

Scientific name : Hippocampus bargibanti


Very small species, up to 3 cm lenght. The skin, pink-violet in colour, has large scattered red tubercles. Very short snout. Long prehensile tail.

Associated organisms
Living on the gorgonian Muricella sp. According to some authors, the red buds on the skin could be Muricella polyps. Anyway camouflage is almost perfect, due to the colour, texture of skin, and stillness.
