Striped triplefin
Scientific name : Helcogramma striata
Small bottom fish, red in colour with longitudinal white lines, transparent fins, blue spots on nape. 4 cm. It lives in small groups, never leaving a small territory and seldom hiding into crevices. Therefore it is easily observed by those taking notice of the small creatures. No confusion is possible if the colour pattern is observed carefully. At a first glance it could be mistaken with a goby. The 3 dorsal fins are distinctive (gobies have 2), but it is a difficult detail to appreciate due to transparency.
Associated organisms Usually observed on sponges and colonial ascidians.
Habitat:
Reef external slope, Reef front
